Wow! What a turnout for our Crosby Beach Clean & Networking event! ☀️
We had to cancel this event twice due to weather warnings from a heatwave last summer and weather warnings last month due to storms.
However, it was 3rd time lucky yesterday with the beautiful weather as over 30 individuals and businesses came together with a joint goal – to do good for our planet 🌎
Our speaker and committee member Sophia (Avraam) Polson gave us a brief intro to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to raise awareness on how they can used as a framework to do #BusinessForGood, focusing on Goal 14 – #LifeBelowWater.
Huge thank you to our second speaker Gary Adlen from carbon happy world for sharing some interesting facts about the ocean and the benefits beach cleaning can have on our communities, environment and mental health.
Finally, a special thank you goes to Friends of Crosby Beach for helping us facilitate the event and make this all possible (ticket prices included a donation to their cause).
Collectively we managed to fill 10 full bags of litter with some interesting finds such as plastic straws, lollipop sticks, a flip-flop and even a tent!
We then finished off with some well-earned drinks and further networking at a local bar and restaurant called Sesay’s Bar and Kitchen.
We are planning to do this again in summer 2024 (weather permitting of course) so make sure you subscribe to our newsletter to receive updates!
Thank you to everyone who joined us!
